Happy Friday! Its hard to believe its the last day of August! Where has the summer gone? Here in Canada parents are frantically getting their kids ready for school, which for my area starts around Sept 4. So glad I'm past that stage!
I didn't follow this weeks sketch from Stuck on U Sketches as closely as I usually do. It kind of took on a life of its own! I found another really darling photo of Cassidy on Facebook from a few years back and I just knew I had to use this Prima line for it! Don't you think so?
My scissors got a good work out doing lots of fussy cutting for this layout! In fact, most of my embellishments were fussy cut from the paper! I wanted to bring out the lavender tones in some of the flowers, so I used my Prima brick mask and Milled Lavender Distress Ink on the background. I added some gesso and light molding paste to bring out texture as if it were real brick.
This weeks sketch was designed by our very own talented Leah Schaeffer! Be sure to stop by her blog and check out her work!
Lots and lots of layers on this layout! On the fussy cut pieces, I took my Vintage Photo Distress marker, the brush side to color the edges to help make them pop.
I knew the Dusty Attic chippies I used here would be perfect. I cut them up so I could use it through out the layout. First I painted them white with gesso, then used various shade of purple ink for the flowers and greens for the leaves, then I used Milled Lavender Distress Stickles for the flowers, and Peeled Paint Distress Stickles of the leaves and stems. I really like how it turned out. I also shaded the dancing fairy's skirt with lavender ink and Milled Lavender Stickles.
Another Dusty Attic product used for the title.... I can't get enough of their gorgeous chipboard!
I gave all the flowers a kiss of gesso, adding to that shabby chic look I love so much. I also used a toilet paper roll to make the white circles with gesso.
Thanks so much for stopping by..... I hope you will have found some sort of inspiration from my work! Please go to Stuck on U Sketches and see all the gorgeous work by the rest of the sketch design team! We also have a diecut design team AND a new card design team! Amazing work is put out from our girls! Come see for yourself!
