Angelic ~August 31 Sketch SOUS~

Happy Friday! Its hard to believe its the last day of August! Where has the summer gone?  Here in Canada parents are frantically getting their kids ready for school, which for my area starts  around Sept 4.  So glad I'm past that stage!
I didn't follow this weeks sketch from Stuck on U Sketches as closely as I usually do. It kind of took on a life of its own!  I found another really darling photo of Cassidy on Facebook from a few years back and I just knew I had to use this Prima line for it! Don't you think so?

My scissors got a good work out doing lots of fussy cutting for this layout! In fact, most of my embellishments were fussy cut from the paper!  I wanted to bring out the lavender tones in some of the flowers, so I used my Prima brick mask and Milled Lavender Distress Ink on the background. I added some gesso and light molding paste to bring out texture as if it were real brick.

This weeks sketch was designed by our very own talented Leah Schaeffer! Be sure to stop by her blog and check out her work!

Lots and lots of layers on this layout!  On the fussy cut pieces, I took my Vintage Photo Distress marker, the brush side to color the edges to help make them pop.

I knew the Dusty Attic chippies I used here would be perfect.  I cut them up so I could use it through out the layout. First I painted them white with gesso, then used various shade of purple ink for the flowers and greens for the leaves, then I used Milled Lavender Distress Stickles for the flowers, and Peeled Paint Distress Stickles of the leaves and stems.  I really like how it turned out. I also shaded the dancing fairy's skirt with lavender ink and Milled Lavender Stickles.

Another Dusty Attic product used for the title.... I can't get enough of their gorgeous chipboard!

I gave all the flowers a kiss of gesso, adding to that shabby chic look I love so much.  I also used a toilet paper roll to make the white circles with gesso.

Thanks so much for stopping by..... I hope you will have found some sort of inspiration from my work! Please go to Stuck on U Sketches and see all the gorgeous work by the rest of the sketch design team!  We also have a diecut design team AND a new card design team! Amazing work is put out from our girls! Come see for yourself!

Have an amazing Sept long weekend my friends!

Happy Girls ~SOUS~

Woo Hoo! Is it really Friday again? Reveal Friday? How awesome! I've got a really cute layout to share for you! Here is my Great niece Cassidy playing at the playground! I'm so glad her mom puts all these photos on Facebook for me to snitch and scrap! The sketch this week at Stuck on U Sketches leans to a Clean and Simple style, IMO, and this is my version of it!

I used the Little Miss collection from Bo Bunny. Perfect for little girls! On the background paper I used a Prima Mask with some Molding Paste, applied with a plastic gift card. Once dry I put the mask back in place and used some distress inks to bring out the areas I used the paste on, balancing the color of the pink polka dot paper.

This weeks sketch was created by our own Leah Schaeffer! Check out her blog!

Here is a close up of the paper flower I made using 3 layers of a white diecut flower sprayed with Glimmer Mist.

I used a sticker that came with the collection and layered it with a paper doily, and chipboard doily from Dusty Attic painted white and then Glimmer Mist. I dressed it up with some stickles and cute flowers. I added a Dusty Attic flourish painted white and then with a coat of Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint. Love the look!

Just a different angle here so you can see the layers and dimension
.
I had fun using a few different border punches around the outside of the polka dot paper, of course, inked and distressed!

Thanks for stopping by, it was good to "see" you again! Be sure to go to SOUS blog and check out the other designers awesome work! Have fun with this weeks sketch!

~My Creative Sketches~ August

Hi everyone! The August sketch is up at My Creative Sketches and I am making my debut as a Design Team member!  I am so excited to be one of the chosen and I hope you will enjoy my take on the sketch as much as I enjoyed working with it!

This is a rare photo of my brother and I.  It was taken last August at my Daughter's wedding. It was so interesting how most of the family ended up dressing in purple without the others knowing, especially with my brother and his family living in a different province than us!. For the back ground paper I used a resist paper by Pink Paislee.  I inked it up with the 4 purple colors of the Ranger Distress Inks, and a little Antique linen to lighten it up a bit.

This months sketch is created by Kim Keane.

I created a raised frame around the perimeter of the layout by cutting 4 strips of white card stock, punching one edge of each strip with a border punch. I then smeared on a layer of Molding Paste and stamped  am image into the wet paste.  Once that was dry I took my purple distress inks and applied each color randomly,  finishing off with  hits of white gesso here and there. Totally LOVE the effect it gives! When I applied the strips to the layout I first glued down some strips of cardboard to raise up the border, giving it loads of depth.

I used some yummy Dusty Attic foliage flourish, and I first inked it with Dusty Concord Distress Stain and then added a white crackle paint over the top. I just love the large crackles!

I made most of the flowers in this cluster using various dies, such as Cheery Lynn Designs, Memory Box and Tim Holtz Tattered Florals.  I then touched the edges with gesso.

I used Viva Decor Pearl pen in black to make the flourish for the butterfly trail

close up of the raised textured border.

My heart belongs to You ~SOUS~

It's Friday Sketch reveal Day at Stuck on U Sketches! I always look forward to this day. I love seeing what the other designers come up with and I love sharing what I come up with!  This weeks sketch was particularly difficult for me and really took me out of my comfort zone.  I'm really glad I persevered as I love how it turned out!

I decided to scrap some engagement photos of Jerica and Jaret.  I edited them into black and white and love how they pop off the page!  I used Pink Paislee's collection called Butterfly Garden.
