Natural Beauty
Hi everyone! I hope you are all having a good week! Looks like we are in for some warmer temperatures, but with that usually means bad driving conditions. Now that our daughter lives away from home I am always concerned about bad road conditions!
I told you in a prior post that I would be doing a layout using the Le Fleur Flower technique and here you have it!
First I'd like to tell you about the photo. This is my sweet Jerica who is 20 yrs old. My sister has recently gotten into photography and did a photo shoot with her. I really liked this photo and decided I needed to scrap it!
I used kraft cardstock as my base, Java cardstock for the frame, red cardstock for the frame shadow, and pattern paper by Daisy D for the frame blackout. I cut this really cute frame with my Cricut/Gypsy and the Cartridge Home Accent. I really love this cart! I also used it for the butterfly and its shadow.
The pp I used for the flowers and butterfly really worked nicely with the color of Jerica's hair I had this red scroll left over from an order from NiklinDesgins1225 at etsy and it picked up on the red in the frame and the flecks of red in the background paper.
Here is a close up of the Le Fleur flowers and the daisy flowers I made. I did some faux stitching around the matted picture. I had cut and opening for the picture and inked and curled up the edges .
Hre you can see the butterfly that I covered in Diamond Glaze, and once that was dry I covered it with Ranger Distress Stickles Rock Candy. I used pop dots to raise up the butterfly. On the brown frame you can see that I used a small flourish stamp and Versamark ink to give the brown frame some detail and depth. I then used Ranger Liquid Pears around the curved parts of the frame.
For the title " Natural Beauty", I cut out on my Cricut/Gypsy using Ashlyn's Alphabet for 'Natural', and Gypsy Font for 'Beauty'. I then used my Distressed Stickles in Frayed Burlap to give it some texture.
I decided to outline the frame with my white gel pen to make it all pop.
Thanks so much for joining me and I hope you enjoyed looking at my layout as much as I enjoyed making it!

Le Fleur
I love making my own embellishments, and as I was searching on line I came across this cool tutorial on Swirlydoos .com. Click on the name and it will take you directly to the tutorial.
I gave it a try, and here is what I came up with! I used Diamond Glaze and I couldn't find any stamens locally, so I just drew them on with a white gel pen. I added some stickles as well.
To make the leaves I took green cardstock and decorative scissors[pinking] and cut them out free hand. I folded the leaves in half and inked the edges and the line down the middle. I then used the Diamond Glaze on top and while the leaves dried I manipulated them to give them shape.
Watch for these on some future layouts! Thanks for looking!

Goodies from My Creative Scrapbook!
I ordered the Limited Edition kit from My Creative Scrapbook, and I received the December kit! One of the reasons I chose this particular kit is that it often has lots of Prima flowers, flourishes and pattern papers that appeal to me. This one didn't fail either! The Papers are all from Webster Pages,'Winter Wings' . I just need to hunt down some photos worthy of these beautiful papers! It will be fun creating with them!
A few entries ago I mentioned to you that I had won the Nov. Sketch challenge from MCS, well now I have the proof! Our mail systems seems to be very slow at times, and for a bit we thought it had been lost in the mail. Fortunately we waited a few more days before Pam sent out another prize, and low and behold it finally showed up! Lots of Prima goodness! Yeah!!!
Thank you again Pam, and all the wonderful Design Team from My Creative Scrapbook for all the great challenges you have for us. You have pushed me to work hard at learning this craft and loving it all the more!

It's a New Year!
I hope and pray you all had an awesome Christmas and a Happy New Year! We had a blizzard on Christmas day, so that sure made it interesting! I got lots of scrappy goodness for Christmas! My dear Hubby bought me a heat gun so I can start embossing and trying all kinds of new techniques using it. I also got a new cartridge for my Cricut called "Ashlyn's Alphabet", of course my Gypsy was an early Christmas present.
Sugar & Spice
This is a layout I created based on a sketch by Pencil Lines Sketch # 164. They have alot of great sketches and they just got a new design team as well! Make sure you check them out! I found this old photo of me when I was a toddler, and I just couldn't resist! I just had to scrap it! I choose pattern papers by My Mind's Eye Bohemia called "Darling Daughter" I used a circle dot rub on to focus on the picture, and on the brown scallop I used Ranger Stickles
I used my Martha Stewart puch called lacy doily and a new MS one my daughter got me for my Birthday, the butterfly border. I cut out the letters and shadows with my Cricket using Storybook and then I took a blue Souffle pen to add dots to bring in a bit more blue and to help the letters stand out more. I then took the little butterfly remnants and scattered them in the title.
I had cut out the large butterfly from the pattern paper and used Rangers Crackle Paint in Rock Candy which gave it a real distessed look. I used popdots to apply to the layout. I bought these creamy white carnations at Dollarama and inked it with Rangers Aged Mahogany Distress Ink to give it dimension and to pull the pinky rose color in. Prima Crystals make a grand appearance, another gift from my daughter! Thanks Jerica!
I had this scrolled paper embellishment in my stash and inked the edges again with the Aged Mahogany, used MM little sticker letters in different fonts for the sub title. I used my MS single butterfly punch and used the blue card stock, inked the edges in brown and added tiny white dots with my gel pen.
Here is a photo of my Christmas puppy! actually she's not a puppy anymore, but she will always be my "furbaby"! I have since given Zoe a haircut and my pictures didn't turn out so good. My sister is getting into photography and she took this photo. She's got some good talent happening! I hope she can get lots more experience!
This is a Christmas day photo me my sister Cheryl, my daughter Jerica, me, and of cours Zoe, peeking over my shoulder! I think this is worthy of a layout, don't you?
